Origins: Let’s have that talk

Is it a concluded matter that there’s no God?

Considering that more and more people today accept as solid fact that there is no God you will be forgiven for not giving the topic much thought. From education to science fiction, and everything in between, it’s supposed to be a concluded matter but is it really?

And why should any of this matter to me?

Cellular nanotechnology & The naturally occurring iPhone

The staggering complexity of a single human cell — essentially hyper-advanced nanotechnology — makes spontaneous creation as impossible as a bunch of rare earth minerals self-assembling into an iPhone by accident. This reality creates an insurmountable logical barrier to believing the universe arose spontaneously.

Consider the offense you’d feel if in future, alien archaeologists discovering a working iPhone 15 dismissed it as a naturally occurring object. Imagine they confidently declared it wasn’t created by intelligent and conscious beings. How much greater must be the Creator’s insult when we attribute His meticulously tuned universe — with its precisely balanced laws, elemental ratios, and cosmic choreography — to mindless chance?

The struggle then isn’t logical but emotional: accepting the truth of God requires humble acceptance of our subordination to His will and power, as we didn’t create ourselves. While the question of God’s goodness in the face of death, disease and destruction seems a stumbling block for those not fully atheistic, we can continue this dialogue without needing all answers upfront.

Quantum Physics & Love

Just as we function in a universe enabled by quantum physics without fully understanding it, we can believe in and personally relate with our Creator without having all the answers of life. Love, despite lacking scientific measurement, has universal effects like quantum mechanics because God, who created the universe with laws that affect everything in it, put the ability to love and feel loved in us all as a reflection of His own nature. He personally demonstrated that love through Jesus Christ.

John 3:16 – For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Colossians 2:9 – For in Christ all the fullness of the Deity lives in bodily form.

Colossians 1:19-22 – For God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross. Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior. But now he has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation.

But why Jesus Christ, and not Buddha, Muhammad, Mithras, etc?

The Bible uniquely centers on Jesus Christ in the God-Human story — the only example of a Creator who, out of love, sacrificially takes on the nature of the created to save them. Notably, major religions after Christ validate Him to various degrees to gain credibility, while Jesus Himself neither acknowledged any predecessors nor foretold any successors.

John 14:6 – Jesus answered, I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

If you have read this far, something within you is searching for a real and deep connection to your Creator. That search will bear fruit today as you pray this prayer:

Dear God, I see now that You are real and deserve to be known. I’m sorry it has taken me this long. Please help me to know You and know more about You. I’m coming to You humbly and with an open heart. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
